IJN Isuzu (Answer) Japanese Cruiser

Hello,

My work on IJN Kiji is almost finished so I decided to start a new build. It will be IJN Isuzu from Answer. The project, as well as Kiji, of my friend from the same modelling club - Maciej Herbut.

The model will be painted.
The hull will be covered with plates which should resemble metal covering of the hull.

Lots of parts will be added to the original kit.

My work I have started from the frame. I bought the laser-cut ribs from the publisher.

After I have assembled the frame I decided to make a sub-covering with the grey cardboard (I scanned the original parts and cut them a little bit smaller to fit between the ribs). It will make the hull more solid.

Then I used the original parts from the kit to cover the hull. I also added the engraved deck (which I also bought from the publisher).

The last part was to cover the hull with the plates. I used self sticking paper for printers. I also decided to add rivets to the plates just for the model to look nicer.

See you next time,
Kuba

Another exceptionally realistic-looking ship model. I am always glad to see another IJN ship under construction.

Hi Kuba,

Another one of the ships that I have in my collection. I remember when Red Horse built this one up, the inspiration for me to purchase the kit. Getting to watch you work your magic on it will be another excellent reference for me and others wanting to build it.

Hello everyone!.

The hull is finished (except of painting). I have made few parts on the bow and a tunnel for the anchor chain which was not covered in the kit. I also added the anti-torpedo bulb and few small parts on the side which were not present in the kit as well. I am adding everything on the basis of archival photos.

Regards, Kuba

The hull really looks beautiful, and quite realistic.

Hi Kuba,

You are doing some excellent work on the hull. I really like how you added the Anti Torpedo Bulge that was not present on the kit. All those extra tiny details like the plating and rivets on the hull will go a long way in making the model stand out once sanded and painted over. Looking forward to more as you hammer this one out.

Thank you all for the kind words.
And thanks to treadhead to teach me the technical vocabulary which I didn't know. But, thanks to you, not any more.
