HMV Notschlepper Nordic 1:250
Hi everybody,
today I'm publishing the construction report of the "HMV Nordic" that I built during the last summer. This beautiful model of the german salvage tug Nordic can be built either as a waterline or as a full hull version and is made of 1757 pieces in 12 sheets. The optional and very useful lasercut set contains another 779 parts. The 78 m long tug becomes 31cm long in 1:250 scale. The model looks very interesting with a lot of details, such as the 6.5t hydraulic crane, a large variety of winches, the complete interior of the bridge and an intricate lattice mast.

Here we go!
Since I decided to build the full hull version of the model, the first stage is the construction of the underwater part. Here comes the bulkhead framework.

We continue with the bow thrusters and the ship's bottom and keel.

The next parts are the rudders (1-2) and the components of the propellers: the guards (3-4), the shafts (5), the propeller itself (6) and the complete assemblies (7-10)

The underwater part of the ship is complete! This part will be connected to the complete waterline model at the end.

It's now time to start the waterline model. The first step is the framework of the hull.

The main deck is added to the framework (1-2); then, after having placed some structures at the stern (3-5), the ship's sides are shaped and glued.

The hull is completed by the bulbous bow (1-4) and the details and supports on the inner side of the bulwark (5-9). 10-11: the anchors.

The largest element on the after deck is the "deck store", which in the original ship houses the port diesel generator.

Besides the store, there are several other details on the after deck: winches, towing transverse bars, staircases, bollards...
