The superstructure looks awesome! The best thing is that the wires are all hidden.

Hello!
As promised (although a month later) here come the lifeboats. It's the last big part of the ship: four large boats (pictures 1-3), a smaller, open one (pictures 4-6) and another small boat that will be placed on the RAS structure (pictures 7-8).

It's now about time to go back to the hull, which has been standing on a shelf for more than one year. There are some winches and other small parts that will be placed at the bow - these are shown in pictures 1-5.
In figure six there's an overview of the parts that I have (superstructures, helicopters and boats not shown).

The next step is to glue the pieces of the main outer deck on the hull and placing on top the various blocks; the process would be relatively straightforward, were it not for the presence of the lighting system.
I have decided to start sealing the hull from the bow and route the cables backwards.

Cables (many of them) coming soon.

Tommaso

Hello!

Here there are some more updates.
The final assembly of the ship starts from the bow. The cabling must be prepared carefully before sealing the main outer deck; for this reason, I prepared the attached schematic to keep track of each wire within the hull.
There are 25 groups of lights: 13 in the superstructure block, two in the hull and 10 in the fore part of the ship (cranes, RAS, breakwater). Each group can be powered independently and its luminosity adjusted. The system is powered through a 9V battery, placed under the fore crane together with a main switch (pictures 1-2).
The outer deck is divided in three parts: the bow (already installed, picture 3), the center and the stern. The stern part supports only the superstructure block; the central part hosts the two hydraulic cranes and the RAS and the fore part hosts the breakwater. For the time being, I have ignored the parts without lighting.

At first comes the installation of the breakwater (pictures 4-5). Then the cranes and the RAS are prepared and the middle section is gradually installed (pictures 6-13).

The winches, anchors and other small parts are attached at the bow (pictures 1-2); then the cargo hatches around the fore crane (pictures 3-4) and the many small supports for the containers and the MERZ (pictures 5-6) are added.
Picture 7: general view of the fore half of the ship, more or less complete.
The lighting of the superstructures requires five small connectors that are passed through the outer deck (picture 8).
Additional openings on the bottom of the ship around the center (picture 9) allow the connection of a data cable, which will go to an external control board.
Pictures 10-11: the last part of the outer deck is installed.

Cheers,
Tommaso
