HMV Einsatzgruppenversorger EGV Berlin 1:250

Hello!!
As I mentioned in my recent report of the Nordic, I have a big HMV model which has been sitting on the shelf since a while and wants to be built. So, here we are.

The Einsatzgruppenversorger (in short, EGV) Berlin is a large, modern replenishment ship of the German Navy, commissioned in 2001. Two other ships of the same class, the Frankfurt am Main and the Bonn, were built in 2002 and 2013, respectively. This HMV model allows to choose between the first two ships, the Bonn being not yet built at the time of the publishing.
The original ship is 174 m long, has a beam of 24 m and a displacement of about 20000 tonnes. It's armed with four 27mm MLG cannons, surface to air missiles and two helicopters.

This HMV model is part of the Expert-Serie, together with the Bismarck and the Cap Arcona. Designed by Peter Brandt, the thick book contains 6304 pieces spread across 36 A4 sheets; 65 pages of instructions guide you through the many steps of the construction.
Included in the model are the interior of the bridge and of the helicopter hangar, two Westland Sea King 41 helicopters, three forklifts, several containers, two hydraulic cranes, the incredibly detailed RAS (Replenishment At Sea) mast and much more.
Being the original photo-etch set unavailable since long time, a lasercut set was recently released. This is made of 22 sheets and includes 2998 parts.

Here is an overview of the sheets. The hull will come in the next days!

@Pat_craft, that's the model built by Andreas Jacobsen. Parasol and deckchair are actually included in the model. But of course this is not standard military equipment Specail resting place for the captain

@paulhbell, it's available at amazon.co.uk and various retailers in the UK. Same goes for the Laserset.

@Tommaso, great project! I'm looking very forward to your model!

Hi all and thanks for the encouragement!! This will certainly keep me busy for a while!

@Andreas, I have seen the pictures of your model on the HMV website and it's really impressive! The report in your blog is also interesting and will be very useful in the looong time that I expect to spend on this model

Hi Tommaso,

That's a great kit. I have a build thread here if you're interested to see my progress:

EGV Berlin - HMV, 1:250

I stopped working on it a couple years ago after I damaged the refueling rig due to my Opti-visor's shallow depth of field and having had too much wine :-/

I'm starting to think it might be time to pull it back out of mothballs and see if I can repair the damage and finish it up.

Good luck with your build!

Cheers, Corbin
