Italian armoured corvette "Palestro"

In the late 1980s (or very early 1990s) i designed and built a paper model of the Italian armoured corvette Palestro , which exploded during the final moments of the battle of Lissa in 1866 (you can read about her sistership the Verase here http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varese_(cannoniera_1866, if you understand Italian ;-).
I based it on a line drawing published in a Polish book by J. Gozdawa-Gołębiowski "Od wojny krymskiej do bałkańskiej" (the original drawing was published in "Le Navi di Linea Italiane, 1861-1969").

Here are a couple of photos I took last weekend at my parents' place. I know it's far from perfect and the photos only magnify my poor workmanship. However, in reality the model doesn't look so bad.

Maybe far from perfect, ...but very near an interesting, nice model.
I like it.

Greetings

It's a fine model and an interesting subject. It makes me want to learn more about the ship and her history. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Kazziga, I'm from Italy and searching in the web for first italian ironclads I've seen your good work! Probably you're the only one that has built a model of palestro, many compliments and why you've chosen in building this unlucky ship?

Alessandro,

Thank you for your kind words. I decided to built the Palestro because I liked the way she looked.
However, I am not the only one who built a model of this fine ship. Here is a link to some photos of Marco Quaglia's model, which is much better than mine.

Many thanks for your answer, I ever seen Quaglia's model. in spite of my google research across the web. You're quite right about the model, but I think that Quaglia is the living proof of life in other worlds! :-)

Bye

Alessandro
