"Admiral Graf Spee" - 1/250 - Wilhelmshavener

So this is my proposal for a new project. German pocket battle ship "Admiral Graf Spee" as waterline 1/250 scale model from Wilhelmshavener (new construction from 2003).

Here we go. The model is set on medium difficulty level (my point of view) and a digital print. Therefore it looks a little bit clinical clean but on the other hand very technically. I do not intend to add too much or upgrade the kit, I will just try to build it as clean and good as possible. Coloring cutting edges and lasercut railings are mandatory, but thatīs all for it. There are 8 DIN A 3 sheets of cardboard with parts and the german text based instruction with some sketches.

Out of three segments the base is build up and connected with some cardboard stripes. Itīs most important to have the base parts aligned properly to avoid a banana boat.

Finally the frames to complete the framework of the hull. I always start in the middle and proceed one frame backward and foreward until all frames are set in the right place. This is a work you have to do in one single process - do not interrupt and let the incomplete framework rest too long. As I prepare now the aft deck I put some books on the framework to keep it straight and flat on the surface.

As stated before, the first deck to build is the aft deck. Nothing special to report here, the small parts will be placed after the ships hull is complete.

Hello Joerg,
The frame appears flawless.
I look forward to your "Graf Spee".

The main deck parts were assembled with some cardboard stripes and after nescessary forming and edge coloring glued on the frames. I started aft and I did proceed in three steps to let dry the glue and got to be sure that the form of the deck was in line with the frames. The small parts will be set in place after the ships hull is completed.

Looking good

Never dared to build a ship of this size.

Will be following this thread, and watching her grow
