Titanic Model Experience in Paris in 2012
Hi all,
On the subject of Titanic modeling: To some of you, this might be old news, but I only saw these charming French videos today - from the "Mondial du Modélisme" world model show in Paris back in 2012, with it's main attraction: The first video shows us, from a tug and iceberg(!) perspective in a very large water tank, 1:50 scale ship models; first of all of the RMS Titanic (5.40 meters long, weighing 340 Kgs), as it is towed out by tugs from port in Southampton on the 10th of April 1912, then later in the evening arriving in Cherbourg, France, where she is met by White Star Line passenger tenders SS Nomadic (1st and 2nd class) and SS Traffic (3rd class & luggage) plus the actual tugs working there: Titanic au mondial du modélisme de Paris 2012 - YouTube Steaming out on the North Atlantic, she finally meets and hits the fatal iceberg (striking however on the port bow!). From the iceberg vantage point, we then witness, at dawn, how the Cunarder SS Carpathia, en route from New York, arrives to pick up the survivors from the small Titanic life boats. And here is also a special 'behind-the-curtains' video, with all the individual 1:50 scale ship and harbor models, and the preparations for the grand "Titanic Spectacle" at the Paris show, by members of the model builders of the Massy Modèles Club: MONDIAL DU MODELISME 2012. LE TITANIC ."LES COULISSES du SPECTACLE" - YouTube Quite a remarkable achievement, isn't it? Bengt |
