1/300 Santa Maria acabado (finished)

About six weeks ago, the Santa Maria build was started here 1/300 Santa Maria build. As I began rigging,
I decided to post these pics with the completed build, as they are largely hidden when the sails are added.

In the first picture, the yardarms were added, as was the standing rigging. The rigging
here is the .004 nylon thread, painted black. Where the lines slackened on me, I used a glowing
bamboo skewer to gently tighten them up.

The next photo shows the addition of the running rigging. These are the lines that mount and
control the sails. This was done with a fine "canvas" colored thread. Actual knots were used
where applicable, utilizing two pointed surgeons tweezers.

Hoist the mains'l...

Swing the yardarms, jib the jab, point the spanker...I don't know. I'm just
glad it all came together!!

In the final series of pictures, the sails have been added, again, using actual knots whenever possible.

And finally, one just to give an idea of overall size.

Excellent job Ray.
It has a real nicely crafted artistic look, sitting on that stand with the map.
The image with the quarter shows this could not have been easy.
Regards,
Mike

Excellent! I don't think I realized during the build, just how small this ship was. Thanks for letting us tag along

Wow Ray, you really gussied up the old girl since I saw it in person last week! I thought it was great then but now? Beautiful! A gigantic modeling effort with lilliputian proportions....
