Sure...the masts still must be completed with a lot of particulars : searchlights, fixed rails, armament (rapid-fire guns) and all the moving rails for the charging poles. And more...there are a lot of things to add to the ship, before to consider the model as completed... and I'm planning to close this model in a month or two (job permitting...) Thanks anyway for your words.... but this model is miles far away from the accuracy of your Hiei model.... :-) ciao and write you soon Jp

Good afternoon, paper modelers !!!
Slowly, very slowly the building of Imperator Nikolai is going on, anyway.... I had very few spare time, in last period, to work o this model, but something has been done and I would share with you some pictures of actual stage of the building. Since last update, I have add some railings on forecastle and on the chart house (stern area), the searchlights on the masts' platforms and a couple of boats. Here following some pics of the today's stage. have a nice and happy Easter Ciao Jp [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

Hello JP,
You really have a good looking piece of work here. It inspires me to put an old Russian ship on my list as a future project. Regards, Mike |

Hi, Mike thanks ...your words are again a push for me to go on further on this ship to make it better... anyway, I think you know that there are a lot of russian battleships in paper models producer' portfolios. I can suggest to look at the Orel or Dom Bumagi website.... you'll find many russian battleship ans not only..... Do you know?? many of such paper kits, with some pictures as reference, could be a wonderful base to build a model, for example in 1:100 scale, using "traditional" materials as I made for about last 20 years... and having so very unusual projects for traditional ship modeling. have a nice Easter ciao Jp

Ciao,
I can only agree with the above mentioned opinions. Very nice job, JP.The 1:100 would be a nice challenge. BTW, the Oryol's assembly drawings are still a bit chaotic. chris |
