1/700 BRP Gregorio del Pilar ex-USCG Hamilton WHEC 715 (scratch build)
Hi! Would like to share this scratch built model of an ex-USCG HAMILTON Cutter (WHEC 715) that was acquired and now in service with the Philippine Navy under the designation PF-15 BRP Gregorio del Pilar. Model is in 1/700 scale.

Very nice! The Hamilton class is on my own design/build wish list. Interesting to see one in "war paint", rather than the USCG white.

Excellent model and presentation, especially in 1/700.

Hi there. Glad you like this post.
To strk, you may not believe it but this is my first venture in water effect. Got a crash course (FB chat) from a friend back in the Philippines who is a member of the local IPMS group there. Material is actually "wood glue" shapped/sculpted as it cures/hardens and then painted over with an oil based paint ultramarine blue. The white water is made using white flat acrylic paint. This simulates the bubbles and the waves. When paint has dried up, a thin coat of clear resin was applied. To Draco, I tried to upload the document here but the system won't allow me (invalid or unsupported file= docx.) You can send me a PM with your email address and I'll send the drawings there. There is also a small note I'd like to mention as one of the reference seem to be off with the published drawing so some adjustment has to be done (easy ones). |
