1/1200 Ships of the line
Finally finished my second paper model. This is my 90 gun ship of the line in 1/1200 scale. Model is by Warartisan's 1/900 scale line of paper ship of the lines.
The last picture shows my 90 gunner with my 64 gunner. |

Really nice job, especially for a second model! Nice job on the rigging too. Are you going to make a fleet?

Thank you.
Yes, my long term plan is a small fleet. Hoping to find some time to work on a 74 gun to extend my battle line. |

These are splendid little models that really capture the look of the warships.

WOW! Great models! Does "90 gun" refer to how many cannons the ship has?

Thanks again for the kind words.
RunOneSixRight: Yes the number plus "gun" equals the number of cannons carried by the ship. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_the_line Started another of Warartisans's ship models. This one is a very small one, it only has 10 guns. It was originally a 1/300 scale model that I shrunk down to 1/1200. I'm not 100% pleased with the results. still needs sails and rigging. |

Oh, very nice work! I have often thought of doing something like this, but I doubt my results would look as nice as yours do. Can you tell us anything about your rigging technique? Are you using Warartisan's method with white glue-stiffened thread? Again, great work.

Oh, I love these micro sailing ships!!
You've done a superb job reducing and building them...soon you'll have an Admirable fleet..!! Don't you just love these kits? They really are outstanding and they can be reduced quite nicely apparently!! Cheers! Jim |

Thanks again for the comments
georgerutherford1861 I'm using Warartisan's method with glue. I have spare model spru that I could use to make finer rigging but I like the cotton thread with glue just fine and I do not have to inhale plastic fumes. jimkrauzlis Yes I love these kits. Will need to buy more in the future, I only have the 90, 64 and 74 so far. I will need to build some 74s first before I think of getting the other ones though. Updated pic of my progress. The little messy guy is sailed and rigged. |
