Matson lineships

Looking to build more liners.Anyone know if there are any card models out there of the Matson Line ships,Mariposa or Monterey??

Don't know of any printed commercial kits, but the Matson liners are on a lot people's wish lists.

saw them a couple of times in the pacific.i may be wrong but i believe they were the last US flagged passenger ships in service.

Been reading up on them.They were built in 1952/53 for USMC as free state mariner and pine tree mariner,fast cargo ships but converted in 1955 into liners

I was a snipe on USS Paul Revere (LPA-248) that was originally SS Diamond Mariner. It was OK, especially when we embarked a bunch of Army types to take them somewhere for amphibious assault training. It taught me an alternate meaning for "Army puke".

I think you forgot one . Don't you remember the Lurline ? I do believe it was the Best Matson ship I ever crewed on .Then of course there's her sister the Matsonia . I did Chief Engineer on the Lurline for five cruises . Back in the late 70s . Now ,they were real ships . Not powered barges with hotels and malls on top of them , like todays so- called Cruise Ships ! !

only ever saw mariposa and monterey.i agree 200 percent with your comments though.i started out on the canberra and the old oriana.when ships looked like ships

Did I tell you I had a larger than REVELL version of the Oriana ? I think it was Academy .If you might be interested , Yeah , it's plastic and needs many talents to come out right still it seems to be the only ball game out there at present . .

I apologize if I mislead you . I was thinking that if you wanted a Plastic Oriana ,that's what's out there . Mine is Not for sale . It took me twelve years to get it . I will keep my eyes peeled for one for you IF you want it . I don't know what it would cost to ship it to you.
