Great pictures! I agree, it's nice to see something different. Considering the source material you showed at the beginning of this thread you have done an amazing job of recreating a ship without much information to go on.

Spiral - You have done superb work on the design and construction of the famous Geobukseon (Turtle Ship) of Admiral Yi Sun-shin. When I began studying Korean history and culture, I was taught that the Turtle Boat was the first iron-clad warship in the world. Whether that is true or not, Admiral Yi used these warships very effectively during the Imjin War.

The Wikipedia article on the subject seems pretty accurate to me, and it has a useful set of references. Turtle ship - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stephen Turnbull's second Osprey Publications volume on East Asian fighting ships covered this period and has a Turtle Ship on the cover: Osprey Publishing - Fighting Ships of the Far East (2)

Don - Thanks for your interest.
It is amazing that you know about the history and the war in Korea.
I know about the Geobukseon (Turtle Ship) and was made into a paper model.
Because I'm Korean.
Geobukseon (Turtle Ship) is subject to post next.

Spiral -

Please forgive me for confusing your model of Admiral Yi's warship with the armored Geobukseon. I was working from my office computer and could not enlarge the images. Now I see my mistake. I look forward to seeing your model of the actual Geobukseon.

Don -

Yep
This is not a Geobukseon.(Geobuk=Turtle, seon=ship)
This is Panokseon, The flagship of Admiral Yi.(Panok=House on deck, seon=ship)

Thank you

Thank you for bringing this wonderful model to our attention and making it available to us. I am looking forward to building it. It will make a very interesting contrast to western ship models.
The scale of your ships models is compatible with ModelShipYard sailing ships and is roughly contemporary with several of their ship models.

If anyone here wants to download the Panokseon, open the pages above using Google Chrome in translate mode, look for "Attachment" in small print at the upper right hand side of the page, and click on the tiny arrow.

Thank you so much again for joining this forum!
