Looks like the addition of the keels was successful John.
And one can see the nice details on them. (looks as if you used some adhesive that binds to paint) Mike |

Michael, I used this kit to glue the bilge keels on, don't know if it is also available in the rest of the world. It is a contact glue, and glues all kinds of stuff together, even your fingers I always use this if the situation requires a special holding ! But also Modpodge does a real good job, the shaft, brackets and rudders are glued with this, although the hull is painted !

Here a little update, portholes and eyebrows are installed in both models. Also both underwater parts are now painted, portholes and eyebrows have still to be painted, propellors installed.

A little update. I started some weeks ago again building on my models after some regeneration time.
Right now I am planking KONGO's deck with real wood. For this I use matches cut to size of a deck plank. Here some pictures |

Hi all, here some pictures of KONGO's finished planked deck & some pictures of the first two gun turrets, they still have to be painted, of course. Barrels can be elevated and turrets can rotate.

Beautiful work, John. How long does it take you to finish building a model like that?

Hello,
Well, it takes only a few hours to cut and glue such a gun turret model. The designing of the model took most of the time, a friend of mine did that in Blender 3D and unfolded it so that it could be used for card modelling. The result was a super precise model that fits perfect. A pity that I don't have any clue how to operate a 3D program, but luckily I have someone who can do it for me, because such programs come in handy in designing parts. |

Here a picture with all guns ready, only some minor details have to be made on top of the turret, and of course the blast bags.
Has somebody any idea how to make them ???? Normally I make them from glue and when dried for an hour I put them to shape, but these barrels can elevate, so something else has to be done !! John. |
