TROUBLES, PROBLEMS !!!!! Who can help.
With my former models I inserted the Bilge keel always into the frames, before I plated the hull, my problem is I forgot to do this in my KONGO model, and tried to put on the Bilge keel by gluing it on, after taken as good as I could the hull form, but, you can guess it, I did not succeed, I have to much tension on the Bilge keel, so it does not fit smooth. I am thinking of demolishing the hull and make the insertions in the frames for the Bilge keel, or building the hull again. Does someone has a better idea ??

So the problem is how to get the form right so that the bilge keel fits smoothly to the hull, without having any tension when gluing !! I also looked at the frame plan, and hat is why I forget to put the bilge keel in, the plan shows no bilge keel. I could construct the keel using this frame plan, but I don't see the frame number on my KONGO anymore, so I would not know from which frame to which frame the bilge keel would reach :( Think I laying it to rest for a while, until I get a bright idea or so !! KONGO over and out !!

Hello John,
I wish I could help. The high level of detail you are able to incorporate into your hulls would seem to make changes or repairs very difficult. Like you say, you may need to remove all that work to add the bilge keels. One thing I do not understand: the plans do not show bilge keels? But you are certain the ship had them?

p.s. I noticed on your "Ashigara": Even the bilge keels have extra details! (as seen in the image below)

Michael, I think she had them, visible on several photographs, also the builders models has them. I tried something this evening, hopefully it will work out

Well..after some tinkering, succeeded to build on the bilge keels, and I am happy how it has become !!
Here some photographs ! I also started on the rudders and propellors !
