HMS Victoria - GreMir 2009 ed.

Well had to start another. I've had this one for a few years and finally got the gumchin to start cutting. Gotta love these pre-dreadnought ships. And this one is a rather unique design as well.

This is HMS Victoria which was the pride of the Med Fleet back in the day - way back. 1890's. If any one is interested, it met a rather inglorious end that also cost a lot of lives. There is a lot of info out on the web about it.

So I have the initial hull pieces lamenated and am still cutting. I want to get this one the best I can so I'm taking it slow and paying attention. As I go along, I'll take more pics and let you all know how the build is working out.

Now this here is a major project, Greg. I am very glad to see you taking this one on.

Carl's designs are tops. Mike Mash has turned out some absolutely beautiful Golden Bear models, and I know you have the skill, talent, and experience to make the most of this historic ship (just stay out of the way of any models of HMS Camperdown that may pass through).

Hello Greg,
This is a fine choice for your next project.
In addition to Carl’s prototype, I have seen this one built by three or four other modelers.
They all turned out nice.It has a delicate appearance, particularly with the boats around the stern.
Looking forward to your work.
Mike

Progress

Afternoon all.

I finally got the hull forms cut. I hate 1mm board by the way.

This is the dry fit for the hull pieces. I have the base to cut still but wanted to show that I am making some progress. The dry fit appears to be good, so I'm hoping to not have any problems when I go to attach the hull sides and main deck.

I hate 1mm board. Oh wait, said that. Doesn't hurt to say it again though.

Hello Greg,
Nice images of the frame. While watching two other builders assemble this ship, I remember them discussing aspects and challenges of the project. So there are some good threads available for reference.

HMS Victoria - GreMir 209 ed.

Un modelo que promete, te sigo de cerca. Además estoy muy curioso para ver cómo van los modelos de esta casa.

A model that promises, I follow closely. I'm also very curious to see how are the models of this house.
