Norwegian submarine type 210/Ula class, scale 1/400.

This is the last model in the collection of ten modern diesel-electric subs in scale 1/400:

Royal Norwegian Navy submarine Ula class.

The submarine itself is not well known to the public and papermodelers, their service is truly "silent service". Here are some infos:
Ula-class submarine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ula subs replaced old type 207/Kobben class coastal submarines (also present in my collection), so accidentaly Royal Norwegian Navy has the best representation in my papermodeling (see KNM Thor Heyerdahl, my first and the only 1/200 surface combatant).

I've been looking for any drawing/blueprint for at least one year... the person who made absolutely amazing RC model (google it) did not respond to my mail, but few months later I have found nice 4-view drawing at one of the most popular blueprint website. Coincidence? I doubt.
Anyway, thank you,anonymous uploader

Midship section:

As you can see, the model is small, size is of whiteboard marker. Printed on semigloss photopaper about 120gsm, again dry brush weathering will be neccessary.

Stay tuned.

Hi STRK,

another one into collection

Still, it would be interesting to see your design in digital version, or you make them "by hand"?

Looks promising.

What software do you use?

The build continues:

The last model in collection seems to be the most difficult to build. I'm still not sure the outcome: bow section (both, upper and lower parts) is critical for the final look.

Stay tuned!

I screwed up the colors: hull is grey, while other elements are black

Anyway, I'm making small progress:

the hull: midhsip, stern and deck support:

main blocks: hull, deck and lighthull.

Deck with upper half of fore section and lighthull is to be glued together and then fixed to the hull. This block is difficult to shape and build:

Done:

As you can see, the model is only a little longer than Olfa knife:

Your making some very complex shapes turn out beautifully. Well done so far!

Believe me, I'm also surprised with the effect (forgive me pics of low quality).

Virtual 3D modeling has no limits, and it is easy to "exceed" limits of target material, in this case: photopaper. It seems to me, that I'm close to the boundary
The only thing that bothers me is ugly-grey color. Painting will be neccessary.
