1/700 Liberty Ship Jeremiah O'Brien

With the christmas break and finals coming up, I figured I might as well squeeze out a few more models. Hopefully, I might get another one after this done before year's end.

In the meantime, I figured I'd model something I figured close to myself and my line of work. The merchant mariners of the Second World War were nothing short of heroes, putting their lives on the line in the face of certain death, bringing supplies to the troops overseas.

So, this model of the Jeremiah O'Brien is my own little tribute to my forebears, bringing the supplies and sailing the seas in peace and war.

It's like watching a WWII Liberty Ship being constructed at the New England Shipbuilding Corporation in South Portland, Maine.

And model's done! I had tried to make the book in the background a bit more visible to go with the maritime theme - it's my copy of the American Merchant Seaman's Manual, if anyone's curious.

I remember that manual well...in my day it was a small, blue covered book...and all the photos were from WWII or so..LOL!!
