I-58 Otsu Gata (1944) 1:200

Hi,

I while ago I have started a new model. A Japanese submarine I-58 Otsu Gata (the configuration from 1944).
I started from making the hull. I sanded it here and there and painted it. The next step will be covering the hull with plates.

See you next time,
Jakub

Hi Don,

It was difficult to make the hull smooth as it has a cigar shape. I know in some places I could do better but I think plates will cover my mistakes

I always try to make one model per year so each year a new model could go on various model shows and competitions in Poland. Unfortunately, last year I have started Zuiho and it takes a long time to make it with so many changes I am implementing to the project. So, I decided to start a new and easier project to have a new one for competitions. I will return to Zuiho as soon as I finish this one.

In the meantime I made plates of the main hull:

Hi,

I covered the hull with the cyanoacrylate glue. It reinforced the hull very much and it is easier now to polish the hull up.

I also started to make the wooden deck.

Regards,
Kuba

Very realistic!

The Japanese WWII submarines were very interesting ships of fascinating appearance.
