Tug Saturn/Mercur HMV 1:250

Hi all,

I will start a new little ship: a harbour-tug. HMV has a set of two tugs, each in two versions. I will either build the red painted Saturn from Bremen or the Mercur from Hamburg. The black Resolut or Rasant will follow later.
This tugs were built in 1972/73 in Wilhelmshaven and Hamburg. As far as I know, they are still working in their harbours.

Beginning is as usual with the frames, next steps will follow after drying.

Regards
Dieter

Hello Dieter,
Excellent project here. These tug boats always have a wonderful appearance,
and seem to be so popular in dioramas.
I follow with interest.
Mike

Alright! I've been eyeing this kit from HMV so it'll be great to watch your build. I'm working a different HMV kit, be nice to compare how your build goes. They have unique and great subjects.

Hi Greg and Mike, thank you very much.

Hi and Merry Cristmas to you all,

next steps of the tug were deck and hull. The hull is a construction of several parts on each side, but they were going together very well.

Best Regards
Dieter

I do love tugboats!

The hull and deck house look very precise and cleanly-built.

Don, Tim and Joe, thank you.

Hi all,

again a little update, the upper part of the hull is finished. It was a little tricky to glue it in its place, but it fits exactly. Seems to be a good construction.

Next part will be the deckhouse.

Regards
Dieter

Nice kit.

I have always liked the smaller HMV kits......

I checked on the registries and could not find the Saturn at all (not that this means much) The Resolut shows though as a Pusher Tug built in 1974.

Thank you, Kevin.
You can find some pictures searching for 'Schlepper Saturn' or 'Schlepper Mercur', the Saturn was recently repainted and renamed as 'Multratug 10'.

Hi all,

starting with the superstructure: The bridge is not glued now, the photo shows the first test.

Best Regards
Dieter
