I had a look at the Geopotes on the Internet - it actually looks like a great kit.
I could not find a picture though of the finished model. Can/has anyone else?

just received the latest catalogue from scaldis in the netherlands. They have a ship in there called the GATEWAY at 1;250 scale. The dutch name for this type of ship is 'sleephopperzuiger'dont know what that means but she looks like a dreger to me.picture attachedJUST LOOKED HER UP and she is listed as a trailing suction hopper dredger

After the war, the German catapult ship Bussard (JSC kit in both 1:250 and 1:400 scale) was converted to a suction dredger in Holland. Looking at photos of her, the hull was kept intact and recognisable as was the crane on the stern. The Falke was also converted, but she went to Russia and her fate is unknown.

Gateway
As far as I can deduce from the factsheets provided by Boskalis, the Gateway and Willem van Oranje are sister-ships. The Gateway is currently north off Sumatra (Aceh), heading west. The Willem van Oranje at this moment is filling her hopper about ten miles west of Petten, the Netherlands. She is one of three dredgers working on improving the "Hondsbosche Zeewering" between Camperduin and Petten.
I happened to have taken a picture of her on December 31. She is now owned by Dutch dredging firm "van Oord". But she still has the Boskalis colours on her funnel.

Thank you all for the posts and suggestions. The Stuyvesant was launched in 1982 and has two "California" dredge heads, one to each side, which are deployed from hydraulic davits. The central "hopper" holds over 300,000 cubic feet of material. The level of detail is daunting for any scale. I am taking a lot of photos.
Don, this is also an ACE project. I think of you when I have to e-mail daily reports to shore. Some of those involved have that .army.mil address suffix! Miles, the dredge heads are screened, and there are secondary "catch baskets" before the hopper. Both have 4" square screening. We have not found any interesting artifacts yet, but I did notice a nice "door-stop" aboard. Herky, I don't know which line the vessel was with, but now she works for "The Dutra Group" and there is currently a large "D" on her funnel. Gale warning today, so no work to be done.... at least no dredging.
