N/S Savannah - 1:1000 scale

Well, haven't posted a thread in a long while! ...then again, it's mostly due to schoolwork and my dorm's terrible wifi :P

BUT, for whatever reasons, the Machine God has smiled upon me and allowed me to upload a few screenshots of my next model, the N.S. Savannah.

I had a bit of fun designing the base, since that's usually where I'm given the most latitude with respect to physical design elements. I tried to go after the 'Googie'-type style of the 1960s (god I freaking hate the word 'Googie' though...), while at the same time keeping a maritime feel. As a result, I designed a minimalist base inspired by a captain's shoulderboards. I designed the stand with an upward slope and sweeping curves fore and aft, hopefully evocative of both the waves and the industrial accomplishment that this ship was, despite her shortcomings.

...hopefully the stand will look decent when I actually build it, haha.

V/R,
MIDN Bryan Tan 4/C, USMM

The Savannah has been one of my favorites for many years! In fact, I have a partially-build Revell kit that I ended up super-detailing, with help from National Geographic and other sources. The inside of the lounge/pool area, the aft area of the teardrop, and the life boat stations all begged for details! If you need any more photos, I have them!

Nice!! I really wish I had the free time to make my models a lot more detailed and put a lot more effort into them than I currently do...that said, I'd love to see your model!!

I finished the model about a week ago, but my battalion's wifi is reeeaaaallly slow, so I wasn't able to upload any pictures until literally just now.
Hopefully I can get the model up sometime this weekend.

I am also interested in the Savannah and any detail photos you have of the ship would be welcomed. I looked at the ship in Baltimore harbor using Google Earth and also found several Youtube videos you might be interested in. Could you set up an address for the other model. Thanks
