Well tackled the first of the dreaded masts. The Mizzen mast as it is the tallest and consists of 8 pieces.
The main section is a straight tube done over a single gauge former. The top mast is tapered and used 2 different gauges of wire for the formers. Since the former I used for the main was a hollow alum. tube and the wire former for the top of the taper fit into the tube. I used this configuration to support the mast while attaching the top mast to the main mast, to keep it true. As well as a support while attaching the other pieces of the mast. When complete these were removed. When installing the mast, I used a machine square to true the mast to the ship. Two more to build. At least they are shorter. Thank you for following.
