This is where I am right now:

Murph's Models - PCF Mark I Swift Boat 1/65-pibber.jpg

As you can see from the 3-view, there's still a bunch of fiddly bits to do.

One reason I prefer planes over boats. Planes eventually run out of fiddly bits. I think boats create more when I'm not looking.

Murph, good to see you are still bangin' 'em out! These 'boats' look good. I wouldn't mind picking up a Pibber once it's finished. There are a ton of Vietnam era Riverine hulls that have never been (or slightly) kitted, so wide open. From the scows, barges, helo-pad equipped boats all the way to hovercraft, it was quite a varied fleet.

Hope you're having fun with it... Regards, Robert

I'm open to pictorial suggestions. I know nothing about boats, and even less about Riverine boats.

USN Patrol Boat, Riverine Mark I, 1/50 reduced to 1/65

After something like 4 years, he finally did it. The USN Patrol Boat, Riverine Mark I now comes on stage at the original scale of 1/50. I downsized it to 1/65 to be in line with the Swift Boat for comparison of size. Even so, it measures some 6 inches in length. Must admit that it's a small boat model and there are tiny fiddly parts like water jets, machine guns, bollards, life preservers, dashboard, throttle and fire extinguisher etc. that took me hours if not days to do. Also, the deckhouse canopy with those pretty delicate supports is a real challenge to cut and build.

The original scale will give you a boat of 8 inches approx. It presents no problem at all to the ship/boat guys, I believe.

Enjoy the views, guys, and grab it from Murph's Models - probably as a freeby in view of Murph's latest donation drive. He has some more boat stuffs up his sleeves, so watch out, shouldn't take another four years, I hope!

I am glad to see the PBR will soon be available. I will be adding that one to my stash. Really hoping the 77ft Elco will go beyond the planning stage soon....that will be a great addition!!!!

The donation drive went nowhere, so the Pibber's gotta go up in the "For Sale" section.
