JIN Shokaku 1/200
Hi Guys it`s been a while since i have commissioned SaratogaRecently i have started a new Project Which is a WW II Japanese Aircraftcarrier JIN Shokaku.I was wondering a long time whether should i come forward with a new threadThis was dictated by lack of the time...But Could`t stay away...
So let`s get to the bottomThe Model alone does`t give a full justice of the look of the ship ,therefore I will try to bring Her look as close as possible to the original base on pics and by using a photo etched parts So far i built the life boats And Assembled the hull Using laser cut out frames.Bottom section of the hull is reinforced with cardboard cut to the shape of the frames Filled with a putty Which one i got sanded after drying.next step will be reinforcing the the top section of the hull. And here we have a Hull) CHEERS. |

Great start! On to what did you laminate the hull parts? What putty did you use? Would you mind doing a detailed build thread? I have the Zuikaku and will probably turn to your thread from time to time for tips and tricks.

Hi there - pjabraham i don`t mind doing a detailed build threadThe Hull parts, well that`s the first trick i bought ready laser cut out set laminated on to 1 mm thick card board available at the model manufacturer website in this case GPM(they also have set for Zuikaku)If you decide to get one i advise you to get also photo etched parts and barrels for gunsAll that help you save the time and lots of sleepless nights..Putty well honestly i used a multipurpose filler by polycell (ultra Light)quite pricey but very easy to sandFeel free to ask my questions i am always happy to help
And at the end a little update i managed to cut out the bottom hull sheathing and i re-touched all the white edges Cheers |

Alright! At the minute i work on hangar deck which requires a lots of work..This one model doest have a full size hangar deck only imitation around the elevator bays. Therefore i had to find the way to remodel the top section of the ship at the same time preserving the strength and the shape of the construction.Below on pics you can see how i have achieved the desired effect)To make it stronger i soak each frame with S/Glue
cheers. |
