You're right, herky. I like ships that look realistic, look like they just float on the water surface. And it is also far easier. :-)
Just to explain - this our joking with Slimm has its reason in the fact that we are neighbors, we live close to each other ... we both build ships at 1/400, but he does complete models, while I do only waterline ... and all the time we discuss what is better :-D

understand that. imin the process of building shauranas brilliant canberra model he did for me.while the model is brilliant im struggling with underwater parts and thats purely down to me not his design.when i do the second detailed version i have a feeling im going to cut the bottom out of it.

After 2 years waiting in my dockyard I've found the best material for masts and rigging. Work with that goes well and quick and my model is again a step close to finishing. Only one experience - next time I'll use smaller diameter of profiles.

That's no secret, of course :-D. I used Evergreen profiles of different thicknesses on the masts (but as I said, I will take the thinner diameters the next time), and on the antennae a thin thread I stoled my wife from her sewing. :-D
