SS Ben Read from 1923 David Hathaway 1:250

Hi all,

this time I start a small model of David Hathaway/ Paper Shipwright.
Scale of the kit is 1:250, it comes with two sheets of parts and some more pages of instructions and drawings.

The Ben Read was a small coastal oil tanker for the National Benzole Company of Great Britain. She was able to carry about 500 tons of refined products as cargo. The model will show Ben Read as she appeared when launched in 1923 in Bristol.

Regards
Dieter

This is a really classic-looking early 20th century tanker. I have it (as well as all of David Hathaway's other ships of that period) and eagerly look forward to your build.

Hi all
and thanks Michael, Don and Tim.

decks are now all assembled. This small steamer has an interesting appearance, I like the fissured shape.
Assembly of the hull will be a bit tricky, I presume

Regards and a happy new year
Dieter

Hi all

and thank you Klaas, Mike, Don and Richschindler.

The hull is assembled now: I began with the part in the stern, then both sides alternating, always a little part gluing and holding, gluing, holding...

The sides could have been a little bit longer (I had to stretch and 'massage' the paper), but in the end I'm satisfied with the result.

Regards
Dieter
