Higgins LCVP

Has anyone ever made a paper model of the Higgins LCVP? I've seen some plastic models but they are a bit too big for the OO/HO diorama I have in mind.

I'm also looking for a bren gun carrier in the same scale. As I said, I've seen them in larger size plastic kits but paper is my preferred medium , and enables modification and re-scaling much easier.

Cheers Nikki. That first one looks to be the one. Have you made it at all? What's the likely hood of successfully scaling it down to 00/H0 size?

Now I gotta find the Bren carrier to go with it.

Reason for combining them ... My Dad was last seen at the wheel of a Bren carrier on board a Higgins Boat off Gold Beach, but they didn't make it to land. All aboard were posted "Missing in action, presumed Dead." and even the boat was never seen again.

John, they have WWII papermodels in 1/72 scale. Graphics are reasonable.

!/72 again though. I wonder if I should find a wider windowsill?

PS: Your link don't work DT, but I found them via Google. Yep they've got a Bren carrier and a Higgins Boat too.

Both the LCVP and the LCA are available direct from Paper Tiger Armaments, as well: Watercraft

PTA models are JPEGs, and so easily rescalable to 1/87 (U.S. HO) or 1/76.2 (British OO).

Yep, seen them Don. Thanks again guys. All I gotta do now is scale them down to match my 00/H0 soldiers. Or I could just get some 1/72 soldiers. let's see how the reduction goes first, eh?

Hi John,

Bear in mind that all of the early Airfix vehicles and figures are in 1/76th scale (00). This includes the Bren carrier.

Bernie.

John, I've rescaled several of the PTA models to HO without problem. Good luck with your dio.

Well, having perused the options the PTA ones look the better detailed, so I've PayPal'd a few dollars their way opting for downloads. I guess I now just wait for an Email link?

As y'all say, (an' I've just checked out) there ain't a great deal o' difference between 1/72, HO & 00 scales so winding them up or down shouldn't be hard, eh? I suppose I'll have to do all sorts of complicated research now in order to establish exactly what scale my soldiers are! It helpfully says 00/H0 on the box. I know, I'll just make up a 1/72 model ... try a soldier in it ... then wind it up, down, or not, as required! What's another sheet of paper after all? Ain't paper just so convenient? Can't do that with plastic or resin, can ya?

Mind you, I was tempted ... 'cos I found an Airfix LCVp and an Airfix Bren Carrier at reasonable prices on E bay. Not as cheap as the paper ones though.
