Thanks Glen. No. This one simply comes from the drawings and photos I have. I am really not much of a scratch builder, so I was hoping Carl would design and release this ship, but he never got around to it. Mike |

Scratch, wow you are doing a great project, Mike, so much more research required and she looks very fine, nice that you have knowledge of this type of ship but still I respect the work needed...

09 – Tourelle (Gun Turrets)
Thanks again Glen. We will see how it all turns out.
The results with the four primary turrets are satisfactory. They all have rotation and barrel elevation capability. Also, if they get in the way of future work, they are removable. In most cases I wait till later in the project to build the main armament. However, the shape of Jauréguiberry’s turrets posed a challenge. So I decided to work on them sooner rather than later. Note: the small aiming domes on the roofs of the turrets are made of wood. Jauréguiberry was equipped with armored masts, and the first sections are in place. Some authors have written that the masts were equipped with elevators. However, the drawings do not indicate that. Finally I added an historical image of the port 274mm turret. Along with the turret, one can see much in the side of the ship and the areas around the turret . . . . . . a gold mine of detail. Regards, Mike |

Wonderful work Mike. I always look forward to updates. And very good colour matching with the paint on the turret domes.

10 – Passerelle inférieure : lower level bridge (Nav Deck)
Hello Friends,
This update begins with a photo of the breakwater bulwark that surrounds the forward turret. But all the remaining images show work on the Passerelle inférieure (Navigation Deck). The deck itself (image 84) is made of card stock. The bulwarks and water tanks are made of paper. The smaller box is for fresh water and the larger contains salt water. The small detailed hatches on the deck are passages for bringing up ammunition for the 47mm guns that will be installed on the deck. Images 85 through 89 show the step by step method and the jig I used to install the fourteen support columns. The columns are rolled from paper. The final two images show the current state of assembly. The historical image is a nice detailed photo of the ship in Toulon in 1895.
