There is an epinal download Jarrequiberry on this site. It's not in the slightest bit accurate, but is fun. With some tinkering and some imagination it can be a base of other designs - currently working on my Carnot, having done a Bouvet as well. Not accurate models - but beautiful representations!

36 – Auxiliary Boat Hoists

Thanks Modelers.

The boat hoist shown in that last group of images needed some modification.

When I test fit the assembly to the ship, the booms were crashing into the side of the steamer.
So I rebuilt it, raising the angle of the booms to clear the sides of the steamers.

The first two images show both aft hoists completed.
The remaining images show the installation was successful.

The historical image is one of the best photos I have of the Jauréguiberry hoists in action.
It is full of fine details.

Regards,
Mike

Meticulous craftsmanship on the new hoists. Fascinating images of the hoists and boats in place.

Wonderful head-on image of the ship.

Always appreciate the historic images for comparison (and study in their own right). What a cat's cradle those hoists and tackle were!

37 – Auxiliary Boat Hoists

Thanks Modelers.

Well . . . . The starboard side is beginning to look the way it should. All the boats may now be launched from that side. The final images show in between the forward (small) and aft (large) hoists is an alternative (simpler) type of boat lift, designed to carry boats out over the mid ship turret. It consists of two vertical poles, with a 40-foot long horizontal rod.

Admirers of French Predreadnoughts are always interested in the variety of schemes the French architects came up with for launching the boats. Here is an excellent historical image aboard Neptune showing the davits used to deploy the boats. I estimate their height to be between 30 and 40 feet. (9 to 12 meters)

Regards,
Mike

The exceptional complexity of all this ironmongery and ship chandlery and ship's furniture is becoming evident in these images. You are indeed the master of detail, and research. Un travail remarquable!
