Des Moines heavy cruiser

Does anybody know of a card model of a Des Moines class heavy cruiser:
Des Moines (CA-134), Salem (CA-139), or Newport News (CA-148)?
A friend served on the Salem and would like a model of her.
Thanks and regards Jim Bean

I've never seen one. Having missed the war thus never seeing real combat has caused them to be more a footnote in history. They are beautiful ships though.

There is (was?) a model available in that other material.
Salem
Unfortunately, like most limited run resin kits it costs more than a months supply of groceries.

Not only that, resin kit instructions I have read mention placing the parts in your oven
to get them hot enough to straighten them. No thanks.
cheers Jim

That recommendation must have come from a maker with quality control problems who could not get the correct resin to catalyst ratio.
Warming with a blow drier (secure parts with wire twists so do not blow away) or hot water bath is usually enough to make them bendable.
Oven treatment sounds risky, too much could lead to meltdown or flameout. Melted plastic smells awful and is really hard to scrape clean.
