But you are right. It is better to start with a small model to find the right materials and develop some routine. It is something that has to grow.

Have a good start!

Watching this develop. Looks like you are making good progress.
Good Luck!

Eh, surfduke, this was not the start of my build, in fact it was the aftermath. See posting #163. Or do I misunderstand you?
But I appreciate your encouragement anyway:-). Thanks.

Dear Ab Hoving,

As you mentioned before van Yk is less accessible. I saw that in 2014 a book was published by A. J. den Hond on van Yk. "Design and Construction of Dutch Sailing Ships in the 17th Century". Have you seen/read this book and do the line plans differ (much) between these reconstructions and as what is detailed in Witsen texts?

best

Hello et2B,
As far as I remember it was a small booklet, published by the author himself (or by his family, he died shortly after, I think) and in a very limited number. Not really shipbuilding breaking news, except that he tried to connect the contracts in the book with actual existing ships. Sometimes with some succes, sometimes not. I tried to find it in my bookcase, but it is overcrowded so alas.
