Here again Titanic has released its secrete to the world, Last week on the TV News the grand daughter of First officer Lightoller revealled the first time in 100 years scince her demise. That there was an misunderstanding in the steering commands to avoid the iceberg, instead of hard to starboard quatermaster higgins swung the helm to starboard and then corrected it to to port. causeing the ship to strike the berg. also Bruce Ismay ordered Captain smith to keep sailing after they struck the berg. So They never stopped after hitting the berg they kep going. until boiler room NO.6 was takeing on water and they had to shut down the all boilers. Lightoller told his grand daughter that if they only would have stopped after strikeing the berg they would have stayed afloat long enough for the Carpathia to via all passengers. The secret was kept from the senate investigations because if the truth was known the White Star line woiuld have bellied under, so to protect the company from bankrupcy the secret was never revealed. This is just a quote from what i heard on the TV news.
