Valve rockers added to the front of the engine frame. [Those were tricky.] Now, time for the rocker arms that go to the central camshaft.

Engine nearing completion
Only a couple little things left. It is not glued into position yet.

Another thing I can say with absolute certainty is that there was wood, "Lagging" around the circumference of the engine cylinder, a primitive form of insolation thought to minimize condensation.
Even more remarkable than finding vermillion pigment on the raised engine after over a century of submersion, was the fact that remnants of the wood lagging remained on the cylinder. Described to me by Jeff Johnston as being "Two inch, oak strips one half inch thick, banded around the engine cylinder" He insisted that I include this feature on the model. |

Engine completed!
It is glued into place, along with the reversing wheel forward. It is also connected to the condenser in two places: the overhead pipe, and the pump crank, aft port side.
There is no propeller shaft yet, and no steam pipes from the boilers to the engine. There are also supposed to be two sets of steps that go up on either side of the engine platform, and a ladder that goes up to the deck. When those are finished, that should complete the engine room, I think.

Yes. It is superb, and gives an understanding of what the engine room of this vessel looked like that simply can't be gained from drawings.
