The history text in the instructions of the model seems to be a translation of this text but in the original there is no mention of the spikes!!

Farol da Nossa Terra

About the spikes.
I two portuguse soucers that talk about them.
One say that is could be just to protect from colisions.

The other says that it could for the poor and with litle resourses fisherman to proctect from pirates when they were fishing out of the river, in the Atlantc Ocean close to the coast.

Another thing. The ship had so many sails to navigate sideways!!! They used the net from the side and then navigate sideways draging the fishing nets.

Sorry may english. I hope that everybody understand.

jleslie48 - Nice work so far!

No problem!! please post what your doing. My kitchen in my apartment has been completely gutted, as I'm getting a complete new everything compliments of management. So all my kitchen related items are stacked in and around my modeling area. So nothing being done at the moment until I make some room.

What you've done so far, is looking great!!

well finally done with the chines on my build. For a bad reason, the parts 69, 72, 74, and 75 for the port side of the ship are with the starboard parts and vice versa. be careful!!

I also had to jury rig some of the chines, I don't know why, the seem to fit perfectly lengthwise, but I seemed to have too many in some places, and not enough on others.

You've made an exceptionally difficult hull. In my opinion this is the hardest one I've ever made, so Doubled Congratulations.

Yes , parts 69L, 72L, 74L, 75L are together with parts with a letter "P"(and vice versa), but it is only the arrangement on the sheets. So be carefull.

The width of planks should be "controlled" on every step, because there are 20 on each side, so it is almost impossible to "repeat" the process identically.

Below the test of the model made by "cyrylus" from KONRADUS - MODELARSTWO KARTONOWE and my second version test just before printing by WAK.
