despite its difficulty, the double hulled design is really a pleasure to work with, and the individual chines really add to the realism of this model. For the first skin, I recommend coloring the back side brown, this way any gaps in the chines won't show white, If you look at my first picture you will see I actually built the first skin inside out except for the one part that is visible from the deck down to the hull area.

Ups.... you went beyond the level of my knowledge of English:-))) Do I understand well, that you are going to make two layers of planks? If yes, that could look fantastic!
Painting the first layer brown is very useful for hiding any white gaps between final planks. I do the same.

no. I was referring to the inner hull and then the planking. the inner hull I believe was designed to have the color on the INSIDE of the hull, but as only one panel is visible, the one section where the deck is cut out, I felt it was better to build that part of the skin, parts 22,24-36, with the color side to the outside. only the part 23 did I install properly and painted its reverse side brown.

I understand now. You did everything exactly as it was intended. Brown colour unvisible inside the hull would have no sense. Only the part 23 is white outside and should be painted dark brown. On your first picture everything is correct and that is why I misunderstood.
The part 23 could have been printed both sides, but doing it for one part only generated higher unjustified costs. More "both side coloured" parts would have sens, but the only one part - no.
On my pictures these parts are white only because of home printing costs, when I test models.

Great work!! Love the updates. Nothing being done here, because of kitchen upgrade. Plus I found out from the VA that I need catarack surgery on my left eye. In the process of taking pre-opt tests before I can be approved. Keep the updates coming!!

eatcrow2 - Nice to see you back. The keel looks very fine. Before planking check the length dimension as it is mentioned in the instruction. A longer hull may couse, that planks will be too short. And consider the thickness of the planks. The instruction says to use 0,5 mm cardboard, however I recommend a little bit thinner (a part + cardboard = 0,5 mm) It will be much easier to shape planks. Good luck.

jleslie48 - Good progress. What "monster" do you have in that big cage in the background?
