1/100 "Muleta de Seixal"

Model of Portuguese sail fishing boat (XVII-XIX c.).

Inspired by all the excellent sailing models being built, I've decided to give this one a go. Will be working on this while still doing figures and such. Should help to avoid burn out on my part. All suggestions at any point from those who are more experienced are encouraged..

Details pulled from the WAK site..
scale: 1:100
designer: T. Weremko
skill level: 3/5
sheets with parts: 3
assembly drawings: 27
available accessories: laser cut frames/details.

The model, and first question. What are the purpose of those "punk rock" like spikes on the forward part of the hull?

Instructions ..

Parts..

The way the sails are deployed in the cover picture is fascinating.
Looking forward to your work.

Bulkheads and spine..

Thanks guys.. Figure if I just take my time, I might just end up with something resembling a model.. This beauty is small.

Two of the bulkheads (10&11) get faced as they will be seen through the hatch.. plus the keel is exposed and that will fit between those two.

Bulkheads and spine glued up..

Deck and the inner walls that will be seen from the open hatch..

Here you might be able to see where I've scored between the deck planking. Love the textures.

Good luck Peter, looks like a thoughtfully designed kit.

This is going to be quite interesting. Is the grain just not showing well in the photos on the hull? The decks have nice grain, but the hull looks a bit blah

Have been following your post over on that list for awhile!! It is what inspired me to purchase the 4 working sailing craft from the WAK site. Feel free to comment/criticize on anything you see (that goes for everyone actually).

a little more work ..

Better photo of the scoring I did..

Bulkheads/frames finished..

Deck glued..

Sanded the frames to shape with fine grit paper. I cut a piece of cereal box card like a plank, and used it as a guide to see how it lays along the hull without any humps. We will see!! Next step will be sheeting the bottom..
