Keep up your good work and posting progress reports Alejandro. You'll have a good camera soon and then we can catch up visually.

Thanks, elliot.

I've been building the six secondary guns, the shielding is a bit hard to do at this scale. The funnels are finished. And the machinary over the "B" turret is placed.

I asked for a phone camera and took some pictures.

As you can see, five secondary guns are placed, same with parts of the ship that weren't here when the last pictures were took.

The secondary guns are a tough fit, not because the paper model but for the original ship. I'm feeling that the arc of fire is small, and that the ship is undergunnered, but she survived the WWII and some others wars, so...

Niiice. Do it again (the pics) some time. Your right, she does seem undergunnned but you can't argue with the results. As you said, she survived.

A couple of very low quality pictures
I'm placing the machinery on the rear deck, the handrail shielding over the main bridge (still unpainted) and the rafts supports over the middle of the ship

Ok, I was researching the rafts of the ship, because I found a plastic one from my 1/700 HMS Hood (here in the picture, two rafts can be seen at the superstructure sides)

And I was happy, because they are covered with a mesh. I made all my rafts with paper and a heavy cloth that resembled the ones of the Hood... and todayyy, I searched for pictures of the real ship and found the third picture in this page:

HMS BELFAST

First, there are two port anchors. Second, the rafts are defintelly hollow and bulky. Third, the medium gray is more darker that I believed. And fourth the dual purpose guns have a longer barrell that I thought.

And by the way the funnels are painted half and half, not fully light gray. Sometimes is a pain in the a&% to be so detail-oriented.

Well, looking positive, the ship will be better when finished.

I am REALLY impressed! I could not work at that scale. When it comes to ships, I try to select models that are in the 1/200 or 1/250 range.

Hi, Herky! Thanks, Missileer!

Yes, the HMS Belfast from Flymodel at 1/200 scale is the base of my model.
The reason because I don't use that biggers scales is the size: at 1/700, it is 26.71 cm long. At 1/200 (for example) is 93.5 cm.

As I like all my ships to the same scale, the CV-6 Enterprise would have gone from 35.24 to 123.35. And the Titanic from 38.43 to 134.5 cm.

At this size I would had made three or hardly four before running out of space for storage. At 1/700 scale, I have all nine of them in a drawer in my living room, with space for twelve more.

And (I confess) I like the challenge of the small details!
