There was a weird oval at the right side of the rear funnel, identified as 170a, that I couldn't find in the remaining parts of the ship.
This morning I discovered that it is one of the life rafts, horizontal over the deck instead of vertical over the sides.
Jejeje, advantages of the paper models, just need to use one of the spare sheets I printed last year and do the part.

I used to have prepared this vessel. Plastic Airfix 1/600.
This ratio is very difficult. I look forward to the ending!

Regards, Joe

This weekend I finished the last three boats, the raft, the four cylinders with twin antenae (two at the sides of the bridge and two after the rear funnel), the pipeline joining the aft funnel and the three complex radar structures at the sides of the bridge and after the rear funnel. In the pictures, one of this structures is unglued and on the table.

Joe, the 1/600 scale is bigger than the 1/700, so your ship will be bigger (31.03 cm against 26.6 cm long) than mine.

In the instructions there is a drawing of the parts 100 to 102, 37 and 135. It corresponds to the space between the torpedo launchers. The original paper model includes a lot of details about the lower deck that is invisible at this smaller scale.

Next weekend I'll do the "roof" of the bridge. My estimated date of ending is Sunday 3/26.

And still enjoying the ship!

This "long weekend" led me to advance a lot. Both Director Control Towers (the big radar-like structures above the bridge and on the aft superstructure were finished, The four MkII barrage directors were finished too (they appear on the previos pictures, were finished last weekend): The three HA control towers were finished this weekend and the sudden knoweledge I have of the electronics of the ship is due that I found the book "The Cruiser HMS Belfast Anatomy of the Ship".
I finished the section identified with the number 60. I knew that it was some king of quad gun or radar mounting, but the instruction were very sketchy. At last I discovered that the parts 60cl and 60cp are assembled like the wings of a vintage Cylon Raider. Finished, it was made like a quad AA gun, but the internet says that it was an octuple AA gun array. I can't correct this mistake now, so don't do it in yours.
Another finished section was the "roof" of the main superstructure, and the radiators around the base of the mainmast.
All in all, just 10 sections remain: the six single machine guns, the six searchlights, both cranes, both masts, the section identified 148 and the propellers.
I'm planning to publish some pictures tomorrow at midday.

And here are the pictures.
As you see, I'm already in the stage where I count not the parts done but the few ones remaining.

This weekend I made the aerial searchlight. In spite of its name, it seems to be the equivalent of today's early air warning system.
I included the six searchlights (the ones that provide light) and repaired some parts that tend to get lost each time I transport the ship to take the pictures.
So, this weekend I let the Belfast in my house, and took some basic pictures.
You can see the beginnings of the mainmast, just the basic tripod still unpainted, and a pencil for comparative size.

Remaining parts: two masts, four propellers, two cranes, four AA guns and two flag masts. Date estimated to finish it: April 9th.

Almost finished. I asked for a camera and added my HMS Hood (in plastic) and HMS Onslow, both of them in 1/700 scale for comparative purposes

Just part of the propellers, both flag poles and both cranes remain to finish the ship.

And this weekend must be finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on completing the Belfast Alejandro. You have labored long over this one. Perhaps when you are able it would be nice to have a batch of detail pics.
