The tea bags serve their purpose. Still have not made up my mind if I should have lasercuts of the davids made or produce them myself. I have never contacted a professional lasercut-maker...

The pics show nicely the absent scratch-lines that normally dominate HMV models and are very ugly to the eye. I tried to avoid them by using the backside of the parts or whitening some other parts and copying them anew

The davids and boat platforms are a huge work. I decided against lacercuts and constructed everything from the kit or scratch. But there is a slight problem: the space between the davids is 2 mm less than the lifeboats. I must downscale them slightly. But as I want to use coloured paper for the body of the boats and extra thin one for the persennings, that should not constitute a major obstacle. My main plan to have the entire model finished by August will probably fail. The laurel then goes to Cap Arcona as the second-longest build after Queen Mary. So many details....

Beautiful evocation of the age of great ocean liners. I like to imagine myself walking those decks.

The boat deck is complete - at last. The boats had to be rescaled by 5% to fit them between the remodelled davids. For all who want to build the ship, here is the major source of error with this kit: make sure that the parts of the promenade deck with the windscreens match the markings of the davids on the boat deck above. I tried to work accurately, but missed that point. The result is that the wider sections between the windows do not match the boat winches / shelter railing between the boats and the sun protection fits neither. But too late for me to change it. Apart from that, I think the result is promising. but I am longing for the end. What remains to be done are the masts and the cargo booms on the foredeck. The next project is the SS Frisia (Heinkel), then maybe Queen Mary (1936, JSC)), Santa Inés (Passat) or Schwabenstein (Wilhelmshavener).
