Hello...
The hull with its double planking and the waistband look has not quite pleased me from the result, especially since this also differs from the model violently. So I took the step and completely polished it. Perhaps it was a bit too much of the good ...?    That's how it looked after the first grinding process ... I thought it was already broken and had almost set me on a new decking. After I had stabilized the carton with dilute fast sanding primer everything was only half as bad. The hull was already better grind and it was a better base to start with the Montana primer. The dock kiels as well as the (wrong) torpedo channels were still prefabricated and installed.   The priming / grinding was repeated 4 times and the end result was this.   And with color provided looks so now ...         Regards Martin

The StB battery walls were then finished and the whole had to fit properly with the entire board wall.
So I glued the sideboard parts, preformed and temporarily attached to the hull. This helped me very much to test the positions of the port holes, the torpedo-set and the drainage openings.     The aluminum plate served here only to the weight of the deck ... So I could nicely check if the trench fits.     The armor belt and the tailboard wall is of course not yet optimally preformed, but it fits already.  Regards Martin

This is amazing! I’ve always had a deep respect and appreciation for ship modelers. I’ve also been very interested in the World War I German battle cruisers. They were remarkable ships. For Christmas a couple of years back, my wife got me a copy of German Battlecruisers of World War One: Their Design, Construction and Operations by Gary Staff. If you have any interest in these ships, this book is a must have. I look forward to more updates on this excellent model.

@John Dell: Thx... i was checking the Book an Amazon so fare and it looks to interesting. Is there a good plan for the VdT Hull plates included..? can you may mail me a Picture so i can better decide to shop this Book? @Ruben: also Thx btw: you liked my Design of the Katz Wheels and Hubs ...  Stay tuned ...  the casemates and the path to modularity ....        Here on this picture is beautiful to see that I had groomed on the wrong side of the casemate wall and the individual wall parts are still minimally too long. But it is the prototype and thus I think this is excusable ... ;-) The upper strips are still attached to the contour plates and adapt their shape. The idea behind modularity is born out of the need to lacquer and keep the whole thing movable. It has to beginning into the designing the need to be handy on building. A simple wallpaper would be possible but how do you get then sensibly the different colors turn off without the already styled deck or the hull to contaminate ... So externally build inject and then push in was the solution, so remain also protected the gun tubes as long as possible. After the battery has been inserted, only minimal colors are necessary at the seams. Regards Martin

@Ruben: Adrian was build them perfectly, i just designed an cut them for him. @cerrojo: Thanks the 150mm turrets had to be manufactured ...... First of all, a small overview of the components (some of them already pre-assembled ...) To the left is the three-part barrel, then the cylinder, The tube already pushed onto the receptacle with the swivel diaphragm, The base plate with the two bearing blocks and then the cover.  And such a movable turret then emerges from the components.  BTW: the caliber of the barrel is very close to the original size in scale. And the module for testing purpose inserted.  Regards Martin

Hi,
after that, I started to deal with the rear superstructures ... This was the result .....    The laser wire mesh can be processed wonderfully well ....: D  The right "grid" has the finest structure I have done so far. Everything is already dyed with the airbrush.   As you can see here, the "wire mesh" can be rolled also very nicely to a torpedo net in 1: 250 .... Regards Martin
