The laser mesh is a jewel in itself. I can imagine you made many trials and errors before getting it right.

Hi Martin,

The book contains reproductions of the original inboard profile, plan and frame section drawings of von der Tann as well as deck plans. The hull plates appear to be shown in the drawings, but are a little hard to make out. If the drawings were reproduced larger this would be better. The frame sections would probably be useful to you though. There are some excellent photos of the hull of the von der Tann as well as Moltke, Goeben and Seydlitz. There is a nice photo of von der Tann being launched that shows the hull plates very well. There are also a lot of photos of the various battle damage the ships suffered that show some interesting details. The book is a little pricey, but I doubt you could find a better overview of these ships.
I'll try to take some photos so you can get an idea. I'll send you a PM when I do.

And, as an added bonus, there is a nice photo of S.M.S. Derfflinger's cat.

Hi,

@John Dell: Thank you very much, this will help me a lot

@talls6: Thanks for your friendly words. I will keep going in this direction...

Elsewhere I was kindly informed about an error I did In the construction of the torpedo tube.

This had a big impact on the hull ......

First, the old pipes had to be closed and clean sanded.

Then followed the setting of the first hole for the new broadsides torpedoes.
For this I poked at the relevant place with a pin a hole that
I then expanded with the Proxon (minimot) and diamond needle.

Of course, new components have to be designed for the torpedo exits ....

Which then had to be the first test for the hole.

These parts were aligned with the necessary supernatant to the fuselage and glued with superglue.
After hardening the glue, the supernatant was roughly cut off with the scalpel and with the blue
Silicone disc sanded. The remainder was added with the diamond nail file and poliblock.

After both sides were so prepared came some model cement in the openings
So as not to block the small openings with the primer.

So I could ground the hull once more.
The hatch cover was slightly arched so that it not only remains simply flat.
The hinges were easily inserted and the lid under the hinges pushed
and after this I first pushed the hinges all the way in so that everything could be glued.

Finally, the external blinds were placed on top and the adhesive that escaped was removed immediately with the toothpick.

Operation succeeded, Patient feels well! : D

Hi,

@elliott: Thx I always try my best...

The 88mm gun also had to be created during the work on the quarterdeck.

All cardboard components were developed here as a development which turned out with the very thin Barrel as a small challenge.
The inner diameter of the barrel is 0.35mm and the outer diameter is 0.67mm ...
The breech block has been achieved by a multiple kinked component and has a single panel to be inserted on the back

The hand wheels can be attached with a 0.2-wire wire or can be glued simply ...
I have chosen the second version for the prototype here, only the extreme second part of the 06er I have but then sticked with the wire.
The gun have a total of 19 individual parts and can also built movable as desired.

The shield is the early version and was on board of the VdT up to the middle of WWI

As you can see here a little to much glue on the barrel appears in macro giantly ...

Greetings
Martin

I can relate to your torpedo tube situation. See my B-17 design thread to read of my similar experiences.

The 88 looks great! How many of those do you have to do?

I plan to take a couple photos of the German battlecruiser for you book over the weekend so you will be hearing from me.

Hi,

@John: Sounds great to me.
Thx for the pad...

i was making 4 ea. of them ... The Front and rear are still not decided so fare.
May be i just stick the barrels through the wall or i show some of them open.

Here i had to do couple of unfolding's and especially the big bevels was a kind of
harder to do...
How you just can see her, no doors are installed to the structure so fare and many
other things are still missing here.
New are here the 3D bull eyes flaps with latches....
The mast is made of wood which I have grinded with the mini mot...

The little platforms are all not glued i was just laying/setting the parts on top.
That is the reason why not everything is 100% straight...

Now it was time to design the fire control shelter and the compass platform...

The rangefinder is designed as a complete unfolding done w/o any sub supporting
100% paper nothing else.

Regards
Martin
