Thanks, Everyone...and I appreciate the history lesson since I, for one, don't know much about these beautiful ships other than they are majestic and very impressive.

Just a bit more tonight. The first shot just shows the Lohner next to a 1/72nd drawing of the machine. I can't believe this is my perferred scale. It seems soooooooo huge now!

The second shows I've actually cut my first ship kit! I only put the two hull pieces together but it's still fun to see the size of the beast. Way cool.

I will start building the hull support boxes tomorrow if I can figure out how it all goes!

More soon,

Dan

Tiny bit more. Some parts are a bit confusing, but I think I got them in place. Tomorrow I'll start on the formers...!!!

Good solid inner construction. Looks like a very sound basis for the hull and deck houses.

Dear Dan:
You should share your seaplane at the aviation forum.
I do small scale planes and yours look superb.
Looking forward for your Radetzky.

Thanks, Pablo and Don! Much appreciated...and I'll post a shot of the Lohner when it's touched up and...gulp...rigged.

Yes. I'm that crazy.

Not much to show, but I attached all the formers on the hull and am super pleased that the ship now has four tiny bits of color!!!

Next I start on the side guns and plating around them. Looks like...fun.

More soon and I really like the looks of this ship,

Dan

Hi Dan,

great to see you working on this kit!
When I have finished the Tegetthoff from GPM this elegant ship will be next.
The begin is promising!
Good luck for the next steps.

Cheers

Wiwo

Looking good. I'm enjoying the step-by-step pictures and learning a lot from them.

You're going to rig the Lohner? C.r.a.z.y. M.a.n.

Hi All and thanks so much for the encouragement!

I'm having lots of fun with this ship. It is a pretty thing, I must say. Very sleek and I love how the bow slopes forward at the water line.

I'm not familiar with that other ship Wiwo...where is your build? I'd love to see it!

As for rigging...yes Jeff...completely nuts. I'm going to attempt to use some of my wife's hair she donated from her brush. We'll see how far that actually goes.

As for progress, I started the side gun parts. They look super cool but I was plenty confused as to their construction but I THINK I got it. Basically, I was folding tabs the wrong way and now things seem to make sense. I like the openings and how they go in...I need to find some color that approximates the printing since there is some touch-up to do. The second shot just shows the parts sitting in place. Fit is great.

Next I'll start making the side guns and figure out how to install them. I'm using Kurt's great build as an example and it's helped a lot.

More soon!

Dan
