I've just made these punches for cutting some of the lightening holes that will be visible.
Some scrap metal tube, a countersink bit in a battery drill.

Have you ever seen a Japanese Hole Punch. Google, and they are not cheap. But if you ever get a set, you will wonder how did you get along without it. Still your way is pretty cool too.

PS........I am jealous, I have wanted one of these for a very long time. But if I am going to spend that much green, I would purchase a wood kit.
You have a new fan who will watch your build. Marco built this and did a bang of a job on his.
Good luck with your build.

Hi Matt, it'll be good to see how you tackle this. You have given yourself a nice fun project, with a bit of frustration thrown in especially cutting out the double bottom longitudinals, I did manage to cut one sheet out the midsection D B L in an hour.
I have a bit on at the moment but I will try and finish off the engine drawing in sketch up, and uploaded to the site.

First cuts.

Ok guys and girls, I assume there are a few ladies in the forum. Here we go, first cuts. The first 111 parts.

Double bottom floors, double bottom longitudinals, forepeak centre line bulkhead and keelson. Dry test fit. The picture shows some of the lightening holes. I got carried away with the punches and cut them all 469. Floors 169 and 138 have no holes beause they act as bulkheads between bottom tanks. Over 800 slots have been cut so far. The double bladed knife has worked well.

Some progress.

The forpeak has been constructed. The shell plates, floors and forpeak have been painted. Grey, seemed like a resanable choice. Sea water is used as balast in these spaces so they must be protected from corrosion. I can't find any referance of the colour used.

Tim Crowe, Richshindler, Rubenandres77, douglasmarrel and Paperclip. Its good to have you aboard.

romanmodels. Your advice and encoragment are most welcome.
