as we get deeper into the hull interior

i cut 2 copies of the plan, one of the floor and one of the deck beams
to make sure i placed the deck beams so that the hole for the mast would line up with the one in the floor plans

then i started cutting the first wall piece

only to realize that i would need to put the cross beams for the deck in first

was only the beginning

i then realized i need to put in the plank on the inside of the futtocks
so i made some planks (sorry, fuzzy)
and painted and glued them in

the details
this got tricky, because so many of the parts depend on the positions of the other parts... so what to build first in order to size the next part.. and yet still leave room to put the next part in
i cut the walls for the sleeping chambers, and then added a covering of card to give the sculpted effect around the edges
gettting the sleeping chambers glued in was fun
but nothing compared to fitting and glueing the little floors of the chambers between the wall and the hull

a little progress and a little mistake
the bow cabinets and their doors
not much detail in the drawings...so i made some of it up
it turns out i had the hatch timbers set one beam to far back
so i pulled a beam out and then broke the 3 beam section loose
i've trimmed the ends and will now reglue it in place
paper is such a forgiving medium

and bunks and walls

first a bench across the front
then a little bench across what will be the back
then the back wall
then make the paper patterns for the sleeping cabins on either side of the back wall

on both sides of the fireplace
(should be nice and warm)

i had to make the entryways a little narrower, so i pieced in the changes
they get covered by the card face pieces
its hard to keep everything crisp and neat (at least for me) working in such tight quarters
on a "cut to fit" basis
sort of like building a ship in a bottle

for a few knees
i'm only putting the knees on the side of the deck that will be left open
(cheating, i know)

in the attic

i found my "standard' skeletons, and reduced the 1/48th one to be just about 5 ft tall
he has room to stand under the deck beams
but it looks like he'll have to curl up a little to sleep in the bunks

you can see here that i keep reusing templates, gluing little extensions on them and recutting them to use them for the next panel

here is the plan and profile of the fire place
but before i can start on it
i have to put in the heavier beams that brace the mast step, and the step itself
the hole should probably be square rather than round

some of this i could not find good information on... so i just pretend i'm building a ship and make it up
