CTs Paperclad Series number 8, CSS Tuscaloosa in 1/250 scale.
Well, I found this already printed and decided to give it a go. An early design by me so we will see how it goes. I had limited skill and info when designing this. I later found out that although the overall look is correct, I got the shape of the armored belt/knuckle wrong. Oh well. Still going to build it as its already printed from years ago.

Work continues. This is going to take a while. The silly designer made way too many parts way too small!
One picture is of contains a shot of my first ever paper model, a 1/250 scale USS Monitor. I found the simple line drawn model on the net before ever finding this site! Anyhow, shows how small these little Confederates are.

Corey,
I'm not sure you have come across this book, the title is "Iron Dawn" (isbn# 978-1-4767-9418-1) by Richard Snow. A good book about the battle of Hampton Roads, and the subsequent development of armored naval warfare. I read a copy from our library, so it should be available to you by request at yours.

I have not read that book but I will check my local library's shelf.
I rigged the ships wheel with some rudder lines. A bit sloppy but a nice challange at this scale. On to the small anchor winches.

Years ago I was a true ironclad junkie. Even wrote and published a war gaming rules set for the period. It's your collection of ironclads that got me so enthused about paper modeling years ago. I have to admit I've yet to build any paper ironclads but they are always on my radar.
It's a pleasure to see one built by the designer. Keep up the good work! --jeff |

Got one of the two winches done and mounted. Not wanting to jump right in to the second one just yet I built one of the two pivot mounted rifles...
