Now it's starting to come along a little better, still have the more complex parts to go!

More work on the bottom, still have to put on above waterline and main deck. Not sure if I am totally happy with the way it came out, but for my first real ship, not too bad.

Looks good so far. I will be following this as I just started this exact model about a month ago. I am not as far as you. (lower hull framework complete) I look forward to seeing the rest of your build.

looks pretty good to me for a 1st build. Paper hulls will always have the shrunken skin look on parts rolled over. There are tricks to reducing the effect, pre-rolling or bending the sheets, adding filler between the bulkheads, etc. I recommend you paint the lower hull before adding the side plates, it will actually help to "hide" some issues.

Quick update:

Thanks for all the advice, reply's and interest. Being new to paper ship building, it is welcome.

I did manage to finally get my hands on some Krylon clear matte and UV clear. I plan on spraying the hull and main deck once complete since I am already a few steps in. I will spray the remaining sheets and part at that time. Once complete i will coat the entire ship with the UV Clear.

As you can see in the pictures, I haven't got a lot done since my last post, but I have about 60% of the above waterline plating on, the rudder complete and some side ribbing. The main decks are just dry fitted right now and will be glued after the sides are complete.

Left side above waterline plating on, time to start working on the right side. I will say I did have a hard time with the first rear "casement", if that's what it's called. The parts per the directions were not labeled correctly (66a,b,c left and right are backwards) if I did it right. After I swapped them they fit fine, the picture helped. Anyone else who's built this notice that?

I've only designed a few simple models and I've even caught myself with label errors. Looks like you built it correctly.

Another 'skinning' tip that I read about, but never tried, is to put a thinner paper skin over the frame first, and then the final skin. Like I said, I have never tried it, but it makes sense to me. Clear coating before applying the final skin will help with that, too

Update:

Got the side plating on, still working on minor hull details. Added some of the top structures.
