SSN-751 Nautilus at 1/350 scale
I found an old SSN-571 Nautilus in a magazine, and I feel curious enough to build it.
First, I needed to know the right size of the model and the level of detail. So, I started a test model. When I reached the detail shown in the picture, I had enough information to know the right printing size and to know that the finished sub will be satisfactory to build. This "preliminary model" ended in the trash and now I'm planing to resize the printed parts, improve some sections (periscopes and propellers) and build a more realistic model.

Today I printed the parts at the right scale, I expect to start the assembly this weekend, and maybe, finish it the next day. It had two color schemes, I'll probably use the one in black and medium gray, and the original set of propellers, no the scimitar ones.

Ok, as I said, the nautilus was finished in a weekend.
This ship has a mixture of old and actual features, like blending a Gato class, a type xxi and a Los Angeles class. I made some changes to the original magazine: reinforcements inside the torpedo tubes area and under the deck. Made the holes in the anchor placement and the captain observation point on the fin. Changed the propellers from the original shape to the five shafts scimitar shape intermediate one. And removed the masts. I included some lead as ballast, but it was unnecessary, as the keels allow an easy rest of the submarine over a level surface. Of course, changed the paint scheme and hand painted the model. To sum up, an easy and interesting model

You did a very good quick job on the Nautilus Alejandro. Your pictures seem better than right after your camera was stolen. Better camera?

Yes, I bought a second hand tablet from a friend that is leaving the country, and I'm using it to take better pictures, but between the thiefs and the popular revolt, I'm trying to carry it the least possible. But at least I can take decent pictures again

Some pictures of the construction of the Nautilus that I couldn't post before, and some comparation with (shorter to largest) a Type VIIC/41, U-25 (type Ia), Archerfish (Gato class), Nautilus, and a Los Angeles Class.

Very nice model, Draco. What was the old magazine that published it?
