A Dutch 18th century 'Heerenjacht' by Chapman

A quick one this time, due to several other items on my agenda.

Frederik Hendrik af Chapman published his book Architectura Navalis Mercatoria in 1775. The book consists of a collection of ship's draughts he discovered all over Europe when he made his study-tour following his education as a shipbuilder. In England he was arrested for a short time, suspected of spying, but after he mentioned the fact that he could reproduce most of the drawings by head, he was released. In Holland he saw several characteristic vessels, among which this Gentleman's yacht. No problems with the law there...
The Dutch were not the first people to discover the relaxing effect of a nice day on the water, but they were surely the first who developed ship types especially designed for pleasure, starting in the early 17th century. This is an 18th century boat, which was sailed by professionals.

It might be an idea to do some more of these pleasure vessels, once I run out of work horses...





You will probably see this one back in a pictorial setting off a Dutch town (I hope).
