Thanks John . I go on-line and do a Google Search for "brass wire" and then refine the search with the size I need. There are always numerous sites offering it, I get most of mine through Ebay. The sizes go from 0.1mm up to "whatever".

Sometimes brass ROD works better, as it's a lot harder than wire and doesn't bend as easily for Masts etc. Tubing is also available in sizes from 0.3mm OD up.

Cheers, Danny

Wow! Halinski. I have been building models for years (with a couple of breaks) and haven't dared to cut one of my Halinski kits!

Thanks BarX . Why not? They are really great kits to build (well this one is anyway), and the subtle "weathering" on them looks excellent. Bite the bullet and dig one out - I guarantee it won't be the last one you do in the near future .

Cheers, Danny

The torpedo tube turrets are all finished, so are the Ship's Boats, the Main Mast and several other assemblies. I've fitted all the major components to the hull with the exception of a couple of the turrets - there are a lot of small parts to be fitted around them which I'll do first.

Cheers, Danny

Looks really good, Dan.

Your paper model skills are as good as your wood model skills

Thanks Christian.

I only have the two Motor Launches to fit, as well as the Rigging. Here are a couple of pics of the state of the ship at the moment.

All finished . Time taken to build - exactly 3 months.

Cheers, Danny

One of the finest models I've seen. The curves are unsurpassed. Only criticism I have, and this so minor, is cut out the windows and port holes next time.

Thanks very much Paper Fan . I agree with your comment about the windows and portholes. I'd also add the holes in the cranes to that list.

I would have done the portholes but at the time I didn't have a hole punch. Since then I bought both small and large punch sets from RP Toolz, so Bismarck will be getting the treatment. I also have the Porthole PE sets for her.

Regarding the Bridge Windows - I was still early into the build when I made the Bridge, and my cutting skills weren't yet up to scratch, so I passed on cutting them out. Now that I've improved in that area I'll be doing so in future.

As for the Cranes, I didn't realize they could have been cut out until after I'd glued them together - too late by then .

This build was really only a learning exercise for me to prepare me for future, more complex, Card models, so I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience . Some more pics of the completed ship below.

Cheers, Danny
